FAQ
Why would I need epos for my business?
A good, well-planned epos solution helps you manage and control your business more effectively and profitability on a day-to-day and long term basis. As a business control mechanism it allows you to focus on looking after your customers, safe in the knowledge that your epos system is taking care of your business. You'll benefit from real-time cash and stock management and a whole lot more (watch our introduction to epos video), depending upon your specific requirements. You'll be able to track your sales performance, stock and profits on a daily, weekly, monthly and annual basis and receive lots of key business data to inform your decision making and identify issues affecting the success of your business. Armed with this information you can improve the way you operate.
I already have epos. What are the benefits of changing?
We have one of the best systems on the market that is able to accommodate all the needs of an independent, from cash and stock management, central management and end2end solutions. GS markets a sophisticated, scalable mix-and-match modular suite.
What's involved in a GS epos system?
At GS we sell epos via our mix-and-match modular suite. This includes colourful easy-to-use touchscreen terminals and handheld waiter units, stock control and loyalty software and a variety of dispensary printers, computer and support services such as consultancy advice, programming, business report design, maintenance and forward-planning.
Why do you call and market them as suites?
Because it is the most effective way for you to purchase and utilise epos technology. You only buy what you need. You don't pay for software and functions that you're never going to need. The real beauty is you can add and enhance your system as your business grows and matures. If you add more locations you don't need to start from scratch with your epos. Firm scaleable foundations have already been laid.
How much is an epos system from GS going to cost me?
There are two points here. First, there is the cost of not having one and the lack of knowledge and control you'll have over your business. For instance, dishonest staff will find it a lot easier to steal from you if you don't have an epos system in place to thwart them. The actual cost will vary depending upon your hardware/software combinations and the amount of support you need to optimise the effectiveness of your epos system. A simple system can range from several thousands pounds and rise accordingly as they become more sophisticated.
Are there better ways of spending money in the business?
Not really as an epos system is one of the smartest investments you'll make. Generally, even the most conservative estimates reckon the system, no matter how much it costs, pays for itself within 24-30 months. And as the cost, if purchased, for example through a lease arrangement, can often by less than £10 a day. If the saving in terms of duplicated effort and time reduced cashing up and stocking are taken into account then an epos solution can reduce costs by thousands a year and is well in credit.
Are there any hidden costs with a GS Hospitality Suite?
One of the beauties of the GS Hospitality Suite is that all costs are transparent. Everything you need to make your system work are included in the suite and together we mix-and-match the relevant modules so there is never any confusion regarding your investment.
What are my options to fund my epos investment?
You can pay us for the system in one go, utilise various lease options (either through ourselves or arrange it yourself) or go for a rental agreement, depending upon how long you need the system. Lease purchase is the most popular payment method as you a) gain the benefits from the system as you pay for it b) you don't tie up a large chunk of capital c) you claim the tax back on the entire lease payment as opposed to a 25% depreciation on an outright purchase. As indication of cost, a £5,000.00 investment would cost you in the region of £6.00 per day over a three-year lease period and then you buy it at the end.
Is your epos easy to use?
Yes, it's designed for bar and restaurant staff to be able to pick up the basics almost immediately after an introduction to the system and initial training that you can carry out yourself. In most cases, for example, popular items can be purchased at the press of one or two buttons. Training is provided as part of our mix-and-match modular suite and includes sessions on business reporting, menu creation, pricing and anti-theft procedures. We recommend and promote training as a key means to optimise the benefits of your solution.

What are the steps needed for an installation and how long will it take?
The process can take anything from three weeks to several months depending upon the specification and your requirements. However, each and every project follows a systemic approach to cover the following:
a) Consultation, where we discuss your business model in detail to define what you want to achieve with your system.
b) Project Management, a dedicated GS manager is responsible for the successful implementation from start to finish.
c) Detailed site surveys are carried out for every outlet to eliminate risk and ensure a smooth commissioning and installation process.
d) Data Setup takes place at our head office and pulls together the results of the consultation process and site survey prior to configuring your system.
e) Hot Staging also takes place off-site. This is where we test your system and put it through its paces to optimise installation efficiency.
f) Installation, our teams will work to your timetable and will always look to minimise disruption to your business.
g) On-going technical support gives you access to making the most of your system.
Are other companies going to be cheaper?
Possibly. We pride ourselves on the competitiveness of our pricing so a cheaper epos system is unlikely to match our offering. Nor are they likely to have our experience.
I have plans for the business and want to expand. Is it going to cost me more as the business grows?
With a modular system your core remains the same and you pay for the new modules as and when you want to deploy them.
What can be added to the system?
Anything you want. Our suites cover cash and stock management, central management, end2end solutions, loyalty and membership management.
What are the benefits of loyalty?
Loyalty software is an easy-to-use programme that can be an integral part of your epos system. It will generate more business by providing you with a customisable means of attracting, keeping and developing new customer relationships, increasing spend per head and maximising your yield system.
What are the benefits of a central management?
Central management allows you to control numerous outlets from a central point, which is particularly relevant to brands or enterprises with several sites. Remember, even the biggest chains started off life a single site business. So as you plan for today and tomorrow think also about the longer term future and the need to exert higher levels of control as you expand.
What does an end2end solution entail?
As it says - an end to end solution encompasses all you're the elements of your management software from POS through to accounts.
